A reminder for those of you in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area, I will be appearing next week at the Calvin College Festival of Faith & Writing. My scheduled events are as follows:

Thursday, April 15, 10:30 a.m. -- Reading and Q&A

3:15 p.m. -- A talk entitled "An Interesting Moral Education, or How I Learned to Lie for a Living"

Friday, April 16, 2:00 p.m. -- "Interior Landscapes: Kathryn Davis and Matt Ruff in conversation"

3:00 p.m. -- Book signing

Locations for all of the above are still being determined. Registration for the Festival is already closed, but if you're local you can probably still sneak in to the Thursday morning reading, or the book signing.

Give my regards to Kathryn Davis and tell her my summer school writing program gig at Yale was cancelled (the recesssion) before I could invite her to come and read.

Will do. Which of her books should I read on the plane?

Easy: The Thin Place. Hard: The Girl who Trod on a Loaf. I seem to remember that one I didn't read was about a person in the form of a house, but I can't locate it, so maybe my memory's wrong.

Loved your talk today
Matt, I got chills from your beautiful stories about your parents and their influence on your writing. Thank you so much for telling us about them. Yours was my favourite session of the conference so far--all the more enjoyable for being completely unexpected.

Love your books.

Alison Gresik

P.S. I'm so tickled we were the first to get the scoop on your new novel! I was the one in the front row who asked you the question about it.

Re: Loved your talk today
Thanks so much for the warm reception. As I will get around to posting once I am de-jet lagged, I had a really great time at the Festival.
