...and Bad Monkeys got the honor of being the first book they discussed. Yesterday afternoon I spent about forty minutes on a conference call with the club members. I was secretly hoping Dick Cheney would drop by -- I think Monkeys would be totally his kind of novel -- but no luck on that. Otherwise, though, it was a fun gig, and I'm grateful to NEA Lit. programmer Amy Stolls for setting it up.

Wow, nifty. Do you have any info on this book club? I tried NEA.org and NEA.gov, but I didn't find it in a short clicking around.

Maybe it's even in the DC area, although I don't know how reading for a book club would mesh with the tower I'm currently working my way through. The lure of discussion would probably slow down my tower deconstruction.

Sorry -- by "in-house," I mean it's a book club for NEA employees.

Right, that makes sense.

If anyone asks, I won't try and infiltrate, or anything....

Just dropping in to say that I just finished Bad Monkeys tonight and I thought it was a superb book. A really engaging prose style, brimming with ideas. You, and the book, deserve all the awards and recognition you get.
