I wonder if it comes with a curse

Bernie Madoff's apartment is on the market. Call me jaded, but for $9.9 million I would expect more.

Nice terrace, though.

Interesting. The story reached Germany too, of course.
From the pictures you get the impression of a person with more show than character. Boring, somehow. I suppose one pays for the view.

The place is staged, hence the "more show than character" aspect.

With the exception of Tokyo, Manhattan has, per square foot, some of the most expensive real estate in the world. It's not just about the physical plant (and I'm sure that place has major security, parking--at far more of a premium than in Seattle--other exclusive luxuries and, oh yeah, the location. That's the city's mantra: location, location, location.
