There are 40 DAYS remaining...

HarperCollins has added a countdown clock to its Bad Monkeys page. The timer hits zero at midnight on the 23rd of July, and bookstores across America will of course be staying open late to await the arrival of the delivery trucks...

OK, not really. But if you're taking the kids to B&N for Harry Potter Day, the 21st, you may want to keep an eye out in case Bad Monkeys shows up early.

If Harper had scheduled yours for the 20th, you could have taken advantage of the HP fans trying to get their book a little early instead....

No sane book publisher is scheduling anything for the day before Harry Potter...

I'd've thought they'd rule out a few days in the other direction too!

My sense talking to the folks at Queen Anne Books is that it's the week leading up to the Harry Potter release that's going to be totally impossible, schedule-wise, since their every spare minute will be devoted to decorating the store and otherwise preparing for the Day. Afterwards they'll be dead tired, and there'll be some clean up, but it won't be nearly as hectic.

Maybe I'll let my girlfriend pick up a copy of Harry Potter when I go to B&N for Bad Monkeys day.

The counter is nifty.

"Kids"? "B&N"? I'm taking myself to my fabulous local indie genre bookshop.
