Over at Big Hollywood, Dirk Benedict shares his thoughts about the new Battlestar Galactica. The short version: "Get off my lawn!"

The most  interesting thing about this particular rant is where I heard about it: on Matthew Yglesias' political blog at Think Progress. Yglesias writes: "The beginning of the Obama administration is good for the world, but probably bad for the progressive blogosphere. Fewer conservatives in positions of power equals fewer wingnutty policies to complain about..." Not to fear, though, reactionary SF celebrities stand ready to fill the void. Next up: Orson Scott Card makes a guest appearance on The Rachel Maddow Show to discuss gay marriage.

You should suggest that to Rachel. She might invite him.

The problem with thinking in drafts...
...is you keep coming up with ideas after the "live" event.

Anyway, here's what it just took me three posts to say in reply to Mr. Benedict:

*^*^*

Interesting you should allude to Hamlet, Dirk. Because the phrase, "'Tis unmanly grief," comes to mind. As does, "Better to be silent and thought a fool, than speak up and remove all doubt."

Thanks for providing such a crybabyish, whining example (I guess Phil Gramm was correct) of how the character of Starbuck is played with vastly more balls than any time when you were in those shoes.

Or, to put it a different way, in case that was unclear:

There is indeed a blow-dried, effeminate, spiritually insecure actor who has played "Stardoe" in the past.

Katee Sackhoff ain’t it.

Or, even better, now that I think about it, and given the Shakespearean angle:

"Dirk Benedict: The Ned Kynaston of his time. A man playing a character in such a way you'd think it was a woman, playing a man. Little did we know the original "Galactica" was always meant by one of its actors to be Twelfth Night."
